The Cold Steel GI Tanto survival knife has a blade with a tanto point. This tactical point is known for its toughness and can be used perfectly like a spear , for example for fishing without a line.
In order to give the GI Tanto survival knife high impact resistance and at the same time create enough hardness so that the blade stays sharp for a long time, Cold Steel made the blade from hardened 1055 carbon steel . This is as tough as stainless steel, but almost as hard as a high-carbon steel, but less brittle. A black coating protects the blade from corrosion.
The polypropylene scales are attached to the full-length tang with countersunk screws to prevent blistering, meaning they can be removed to replace them with paracord, for example.
