The Steambow AR-Series PD-5 combines the performance of a full-size repeating crossbow with the compact dimensions of the proven Steambow AR-Series platform . Weighing only approximately 1.95 kg and with an overall length of 57.5 cm , the PD-5 remains exceptionally compact and easy to handle.
The reinforced quick-release/clamping system is designed for higher tensile forces and allows for rapid follow-up shots while maintaining a controllable cocking process. The high-quality upper receiver is milled from solid 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum , while the lower receiver is made from an impact-resistant and UV-resistant, glass-fiber-reinforced polymer . Components subject to particularly high stress are additionally reinforced with metal.
The PD-5 features an integrated 5-round magazine for 7.5 × 220 mm arrows . The magazine floorplate opens at the push of a button, allowing for easy reloading. For particularly fast reloading, compatible 5-arrow speedloaders are available as an option.
Continuous and adjustable Picatinny rail
The top surface features a continuous Picatinny rail , allowing for the mounting of various optics – such as red dot sights or telescopic sights . A unique feature is the continuously adjustable sight rail . This allows the optic to be optimally aligned with the arrow configuration and shooting distance.
PD-5 – Standard version
According to Steambow, the PD-5 is designed specifically for sport training and match applications . It comes with the proven PRO limb with a nominal draw weight of 90 lbs . With light practice arrows, the manufacturer states it achieves an arrow speed of approximately 200 FPS and an energy of just under 20 joules .
A fiber optic sight is used for aiming. This gathers available ambient light, ensuring a clearly visible aiming point. For use in darkness, an additional illuminated sight is recommended.
This version includes 5 high-quality practice arrows with field points .
PD-5 Professional
The PD-5 Professional differs particularly in its sights, limbs, and included arrows .
It features a Meprolight tritium night sight , which provides a clear sight picture even in the dark. The stronger Protector limb, with a nominal draw weight of 135 lbs, is used. According to the manufacturer, with appropriate hunting arrows, the Professional version achieves an energy of just over 30 joules and an arrow speed of 235 fps .
The PD-5 Professional comes with 5 hunting arrows .

Safety and application instructions
The PD-5 is not a toy . It must only be used responsibly and in compliance with the applicable legal regulations.
Never point the crossbow at people or animals and only use it on suitable, safe shooting ranges or shooting areas with sufficient backstop.
Before each use , the limb, string, cocking mechanism, magazine, arrows, and fasteners must be checked for proper condition. Damaged components must not be used.
According to the manufacturer, the Protector limb with a 135 lb draw weight requires a certain level of physical fitness and training. Steambow explicitly points out that this limb is unsuitable for beginners, children, those with limited physical ability, or people with physical limitations .
Steambow recommends using original arrows . Commercially available 7.5-inch arrows from other manufacturers can be used in some cases; however, unsuitable or weak nocks, especially at high draw weights, can impair reliability and pose a safety risk.
Note regarding the tritium sight of the PD-5 Professional: Tritium sights contain a small amount of radioactive material and may be subject to special legal regulations or restrictions for private individuals in certain countries.
