The M249 is a so-called LMG - Light Machine Gun , which has a very high rate of fire and has been manufactured in various versions since 1984 and is used by many armies worldwide.
Like the original, the A&K Airsoft replica of the M249 in the MK2 version has a fully automatic electric shot drive and an extremely reliable M249 metal special gearbox with spring quick-change system.
The LMG is largely made of metal. Body, flashhider, barrel and handle are made of extremely high quality, CNC machined steel and aluminum .
The only polymer parts are the pistol grip, the front grip and the box magazine that holds 2,500 BBs . The fold-out and 3-way length adjustable metal bipod is located under the handguard.
Since the box magazine is an electrical version with sound control , two AA batteries are required to operate the magazine (not included).
The magazine automatically reloads BBs using the automatic sound control function. In addition to the box magazine, the MK1 can also be operated with a TM-compatible M4 / M16 AEG magazine.
There is enough space under the barrel for a 9.6V Nunchuck NiMh or 7.4V LiPo battery (each max. 25mm diameter). The fact that the handguard has to be removed is not a big problem, since it can be removed and reassembled with a quick ejection system without tools.
The Gearbox is specially designed for this model and has a spring quick change system, 8mm ball bearings and other very high quality components. The barrel with a length of 510 mm and a diameter of 6.08 mm guarantees the best results for an LMG.
The LMG is the perfect choice for support fires with high mobility and maneuverability .
Experienced support gunner will soon not notice any difference in weight and length compared to a normal assault rifle, but still provide far more supportive firepower.
